Meet the Founder
My name is Noriko Hata, and I am the founder and owner of Hata's Hamper.
I currently live with my Australian husband and our 12-year-old daughter in Kobe and Furano.
When my husband first moved to Japan, he struggled with online shopping on local websites. Like many other English-speaking foreigners, he soon realized that there were hardly any Japanese-based English websites in Japan.
I was thus inspired to help improve the experience for him and other foreigners facing the language barrier in Japan. This eventually led to the founding of Hata’s Hamper (Ha-Ha).
Prior to the opening of Ha-Ha, I worked in the aviation industry and lived overseas for 28 years. This gave me the privilege of traveling to more than 50 countries around the world and experiencing diverse cultures and unique cuisines. Being a voracious foodie, I am thankful to have tasted different exquisite cuisines around the world.
My travels have broadened my knowledge and understanding of how food can be sourced and enjoyed. At Ha-Ha, I will introduce high-quality "made in Japan" and "grown in Japan" products while addressing the shopping challenges faced by the English-speaking foreign community residing in Japan.
Starting with Furano in Hokkaido, a place close to my heart, I will share delicious, wholesome and reliable products from Japanese sources I know personally. I am confident you will enjoy these amazing products as much as I do.
If there is anything you would like to see on Ha-Ha or something you would like to try during your stay in Japan, please feel free to reach out!
Hata’s Hamper is committed to bringing you freshness, wellness and happiness!
