Furano melon is a generic term for high-quality and extremely sweet melons grown in the Furano area of Hokkaido.

In Furano, the Yamabe district has been the focus of much study and research on cultivation methods. Farmers from this area are reputed for cultivating sweet melons on fertile lands under extreme day and night temperatures successfully.

Nakayama Farm located in the Yamabe district and at the foot of Mount Furanodake, consistently tests new varieties of melons each year and selects the best variety for the region and the time of year.

Despite the varied harvest time each year, the crop schedule is as follows:
•  Early July - mid-July: King Ruby
•  Late July - early August: Orfe (blue flesh melon)
•  Late July - late September:  Tiara R113U

Furano melons are classified into three categories: excellent, superior, and good, based on the overall evaluation of sugar content, netting (or net pattern on the melon surface), and shape. Melons from Nakayama Farm are deemed to be “superior".

We will deliver the current freshest and sweetest melons from Nakayama Farm at the time of your order.

Sent multiple orders to our aunt in Japan, and she loves the melons. She says they are the best she has ever had. Also, everything on Hata's Hamper is incredible, and the customer service is unbelievably great. Don't hesitate to get something from Hata's Hamper!

So sweet!

I honestly think this is the sweetest melon I have had. The taste of the Furano melons is unmatchable. Cantaloupes are not a typical purchase at my house since none of us enjoy the flavor but we couldn't have enough of this melon. So sweet!

Thank you for your purchase of Nakayama melons. We are glad you found them sweet and juicy.
We have eaten many kinds of Furano melons, and we think Nakayama melons are the best in Furano, and we sell them at Hata's Hamper. Please look forward to next year.

Sweetest melon I ever tasted!

I ordered the Furano melon for the first time.
There’s a note that tells you when is the best to eat from the day of harvest. Date of harvest was written, of course. And it tells you that 10 days from the harvest is the best to eat. Also can wait 12 days if you like very ripe. I waited 12 days.
It was sooooo DELICIOUS! SWEET! PERFECT TEXTURE!

Thank you for your order. I can confidently recommend these melons because I have actually worked on this farm and I am convinced that without such careful and meticulous care in growing them, the melons would not have the taste of Nakayama melons. Not all Furano melons are as good as our Furano melons, but we supply them to you because they are Nakayama melons.

So juicy!! So sweet!!

We like to leave them a little longer than suggested to fully ripen and capture the full flavours. Refrigerate before eating and you’ve got the perfect summer snack. We also sent as a gift and everybody loved them.
