Since Vegan Cannelé’s debut in 2021, these tasty cannelés have been sold out in stores everyday. This set of six vegan cannelés made with rare Tokyo native wheat (Yanagikubo wheat) and Ogasawara rum (strong enough to withstand long baking time), is a real treat from Tokyo!

Cannelé de Bordeaux, a local pastry of Bordeaux, France, was created to use up leftover egg yolks! Bordeaux, famous for its wine, uses egg whites to clarify Bordeaux wine. This clarification process improves the wine’s color and gives the wine a smoother and more refined taste, but this also renders egg yolks unused. Instead of wasting the egg yolks, the resourceful pastry chefs used them to make cannelés!

The original ingredients for this cannelé include flour, eggs, milk, sugar, rum, butter, and vanilla whereas Atelier TiDANEFA's Tokyo vegan cannelé is free from eggs, milk, white sugar, and butter. And best of all, the rum used in Atelier TiDANEFA's cannelé is the rich and intense Ogasawara rum from the Ogasawara Islands!

How to enjoy these crepes

If the crust is hard at the time of delivery: Simply enjoy as is to savor the contrast between the crispy texture of the crust and the chewy texture of the filling.

If the crust is soft: Leave it as is to enjoy the delicate balance between the soft crust and the chewy filling.

For a crispy crust: Wrap it in aluminum foil and warm in a toaster oven or conventional oven until the center is heated. Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes (or cool in the freezer for 5 minutes) before eating.

Please refer to the enclosed leaflet for more information on how to enjoy this product. Do note that the texture may vary slightly depending on how it is warmed. After defrosting, consume within the same day.

Shelf Life Made to order and shipped at room temperature; 5 days including packaging date; if frozen, can be stored for about 1 month.
Storage Method Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight; can be frozen if not consumed immediately.
